How to make easy bunting

To make easy bunting.

The Flags
(these are triangles but they can be any shape you want)

- if using heavy fabric, like denim, simply cut your triangle:

fold the edges over and press,

and zig-zag stitch the 2 long sides.

- if using lightweight fabric, like shirting, cut 2 triangles:

sandwich together and press,

and stitch the 2 long sides.

If, like me, your edges are uneven simply trim the edges with scissors, or better, pinking shears.

Stringing the Flags

I used 1.5cm cotton tape for the string and simply folded this over the unsewn edge of the flag and stitched through all the layers (I'm sure yours will be neater!)

I spaced the flags their own width apart,
to get this.

Can you do better?

Old clothes into new bunting

If you have any old and worn clothes or items that no longer fit,
like this rather snug short sleeved number

then why not join us in the Phoenix Garden Bunting Project and turn it into this . . .

much nicer - and one size fits all!

What to do with your bunting

When you have a length of bunting finished then email -

 happy.gardener@btinternet.com

with
the length of bunting you have made and a photo of yourself (with your bunting).

This will be displayed here with a running total of bunting in metres.

Bunting can be dropped off at the Phoenix Garden office nearer to the event.
The garden office is full of mice and I bet they'd like to chew that bunting into bedding!
